Benedict Cumberbatch’s rep told E!News that “Benedict and Sophie were married yesterday (Sat. Feb, 14) surrounded by their close friends and family. It was a magical day” (E!Online)
According to E!News, Cumberbatch, 38, and Sophie Hunter, 36, got married at St. Peter and St. Paul’s church in Mottistone, England and there were about 100 family members and friends in attendance.
After the ceremony, the couple and guests headed to the reception which was held at the centuries-old Mottistone Manor; according to PEOPLE:
“The 650-acre estate holds historical significance as it was first mentioned in Britain’s famed Domesday Book, a survey of England dating back to 1086. (Yes, you read that correctly.) The oldest parts of the home that currently stands on the estate date back to the 15th century.”
Wedding guests included, Sherlock co-star Martin Freeman and Andrew Scott, Tom Hiddleston, Guy Garvey, Polly Stenham, Tobias Menzies, and James Rhodes (PEOPLE).
The couple announced their engagement on Nov. 5, 2014 through an advert in The Times.
